Paying for the work
Financing, rebates and tax credits
What we can tell you about paying for an energy upgrade, and, more importantly, what we cannot.
How our payment schedule works
California law limits what a contractor may take as a down payment on a home improvement contract, and we work within it. Beyond that, payments are tied to completed milestones written into your contract. You will see the full schedule in the proposal before you sign.
Rebates and tax credits: read this part carefully
Federal, state and utility incentive programs exist for most of what we install, heat pumps, insulation, EV chargers and electrical panel upgrades among them. They are real and they can be significant.
They also change during the year, run out of funding without notice, and differ between utility territories. Our service area spans seven counties and several utilities, so what applies at one address may not apply five miles away.
We will point you at the authoritative source for your specific address, utility and equipment. We will not tell you what you qualify for, what it is worth, or apply it to a quote as a discount. A rebate quoted wrong comes out of your pocket, not ours, and contractors get this wrong constantly.
Third-party financing
A system replacement is often paid for with a home equity line, a cash-out refinance or a financing product tied to the equipment itself. Sorting through those options is a job for a lender, not us, and we will not steer you toward one over another.
Flexible financing options may be available for qualified residential, commercial and energy-efficiency projects. Rates, terms and eligibility are subject to lender approval.
We are building out financing relationships now, prioritized around the work owners ask about most: HVAC and heat pump replacement, electrical and panel upgrades, roofing, insulation, windows and other energy-efficiency improvements, plus commercial and multi-family projects where a program allows it.
Until an agreement is signed, we will not quote a rate, a term or a payment on it. Once one is in place, this page will name it directly rather than pointing you somewhere unmarked.
What actually controls the budget
Scope and sequence, far more than financing. Whether the envelope work happens before the equipment is specified changes the size of the system you buy, and that moves the number more than any interest rate will.
